A remarkable aerial view of Wardown Park, Luton, in the 1950s, with the bridge clearly visible on the right.
The photo was probably taken at the time of the Easter Bonnet Parade, which attracted tens of thousands of people each year, as a catwalk has been laid out from the bandstand.

And today

Demolition of the front of the Grand Theatre, Waller Street, Luton.
The Grand opened in 1898 and closed in 1957….to be replaced by a supermarket. The site is now part of the Arndale Centre.

Moulton Rise behind Crescent Road
There used to be a great big house that sat up there on the hill above Moulton Rise years ago, very grand looking, I don’t know if it’s still there, and if possibly that was considered Moulton Lodge years ago
The big house that once stood in crescent rd now Moulton rise. Some of the original wall is still there.

Crescent Road was one of a number of roads of large houses. Others inc Downs Road, Napier Road, Ashburnham Road

Cheapside, Luton. looking towards George Street, in 1968.
The building on the left was one of the two Plait Halls constructed in 1869, the other adjoining it in Waller Street.
They were converted into a market in 1925 when the open air street market was relocated.
The market was closed at the end of 1972 and moved into the Arndale Centre. The Cheapside buildings were then demolished.
