Donald Campbell was attempting a new world water speed record when he died tragically on Coniston Water 50 years ago today (January 4th, 1967). He was travelling at over 300 mph when Bluebird somersaulted. Here was Bluebird travelling at a rather slower pace through Dunstable in 1959.
